Another truck delivery! Needed more than ever.

Volunteers helping unload this month's delivery

On Tuesday, we received our monthly delivery of food for the Food Pantry at Christ Church. Although this is always a joyous time, knowing that our shelves are stocked for another month, it's also a time increasingly tinged with apprehension.

The recession has driven more families to our Food Pantry than ever before, with up to 1,800 families relying on our support to put food on their table every month. But at the same time, food donations from all across the state have dried up; as companies are forced to tighten their purse strings, and what few resources we do have available are spread ever-more thinly.

In many ways, Food Pantries like ours all across the country are faced with the same challenge Jesus was near Bethsaida - when he fed a multitude of 5,000 with five barley loaves and two fishes. He performed a miracle to fill everybody's belly. We, instead, must think ever more creatively about new ways and means to find food to fill our shelves.

This is why support from you is more important than ever. Volunteers helping to unload food, fill bags and help with distribution are invaluable to us; as our the donations of both money and food to our pantry.

If you know of anybody who could help out, please be sure to let them know of our mission and tell them to contact us at admin@christchurchfoodpantry.com.
